Holistic Birth classes prepare parents for labor and birth with a balance of practical information for the head and gentle guidance for a journey into the heart.  With a combination of evidence based information, hands on practice and self discovery, you and your partner will gain wisdom and skills to confidently navigate any scenario that may arise during your journey through pregnancy, birth and parenting.

Over the 4 week series or weekend immersion we will cover the following topics with a variety of multi-sensory activities, interactive discussions, videos and hands on practice:

• How labor works.  Including practical information about labor and the body in birth, your baby in birth, hormones in labor,  and the power of the mind.

• Learning effective pain coping practices and comfort measures to cope with the intensity of birth.  Including, mindfulness practices, breath work, relaxation, massage and positions.

• Communication Skills & Self Advocacy. How to ask questions, get information and remain active in your health care.

• Compassionate use of drugs and medical solutions when labor needs support.

• Exploring your worries and fears, hopes and excitement about and taking time to honor your emotional and spiritual journey.

• Transition to Parenthood. Including postpartum planning, basic breastfeeding, relationships, self care and honoring yourself as a new Mother or Father!
